Q: I’m considering producing a brochure for my business that will stand out from the competitors but I am unsure how much value there is in printed marketing material, given
that so many more people access information online?
A: Despite the explosion of online media and downloadable information such as PDF files there is still a demand for printed promotional material. As long as it is easier for someone to read a brochure on a train for example or on the move then demand for such material will remain strong. And the expectation for high quality has never been greater.
Modern print technology gives the client almost limitless options, whether the requirement is for matt, gloss or silk lamination, spot or textured uv or a high sheen finish. A good printer should be able to provide all of these alternatives and more. However ensuring the design is right is crucial to the success of the job and today, printers more than ever can link with designers to ensure the job is done exactly to specification and to budget, so that you receive the quality you expect.
Just a word about ‘green’ paper. The emerging trend is for more clients to ask for environmentally friendly, uncoated literature. Foundry Press is one of only a handful of printers nationally that has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which means we can give clients the assurance they need about the paper we use for printing their literature.
Remember that uncoated paper takes longer to dry than a gloss finish would so a job may take a little bit longer to complete.
