At Foundry, we take your printing seriously. We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment to ensure you get the best results, from the most efficient and environmentally aware processes, because good quality printing doesn't have to cost the Earth. You can trust us to take care of your requirements from business stationary through to complex brochures, manuals and direct mail advertising packs.
Foundry Press is one of only a handful of printers nationally to be certified as carbon balanced by reducing and compensating for CO2 emissions and to have gained the ISO 9001/2000 and ISO 14001 environmental standards.
We care about your printing and we care about the environment.
Read our Green Manifesto
That’s the message from Foundry Press, the Horsham printers that have just launched their Green Manifesto under a continuing drive to meet and exceed their obligations to the planet.
Foundry Press are breaking the mould of print industry traditions by developing a programme of environmental management regimes, right from paper supply through to finished printed product, that includes sourcing vegetable rather than oil- based inks and recycling aluminium printing plates and waste paper.
Business partners Bruce Phillips and Alan Houliston are committed to gaining the best possible green credentials, at a time when buyers are growing increasingly choosy about where they source their print.
They have also invested nearly £2m in cutting edge print technology, including a 10-colour Heidelberg press – and a folding and stitching machine that alone cost £250,000.
Already accredited with ISO9001/2000 and ISO14001 management standards, they are now one of only 260 printers in the UK that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
“We take our environmental obligations seriously,” declares Alan proudly. “The FSC certification sets us apart from virtually all of the UK’s 10,500 printers and is acknowledged to be the most important printing environmental scheme currently available.”
Under FSC certification, Foundry Press are pledged to source their paper only from the world’s ‘responsi- bly managed’ forests, Alan explains.
Approved by the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and the Woodland Trust, the FSC is an international, independent body dedicated to promoting such woodland areas, he adds.
Foundry’s Green Manifesto goes further though, Bruce adds. Now certifified as ‘carbon balanced’, by re- ducing and compensating for the carbon dioxide emissions generated by the business, the company aims to achieve a zero carbon footprint by 2009.
That’s not all that is changing in the print world. Customers want the assurance of knowing that a printer can deliver on qual- ity, consistency and price.
“The industry is moving strongly towards a service-oriented sector,” says Bruce. “First impressions count even more now and green credentials are an important part of the mix, as are value for money and a consistently high quality of finished product.”
Whether the requirement is for business stationery or sophisticated, high-end literature for Blue Chip clients, manuals and direct mail packs, Foundry’s investment is paying off.
“Our 10-colour press gives us a high degree of flexibility in meeting a whole host of specifica- tions,” says Alan, “whether long or short runs and whatever the deadline. Our certified management systems meanwhile also ensure that when customers see a proof, it is a true representation of what the finished job will look like.”
Businesses large or small will know how crucial that can be.
